When I first heard Tito’s version of Take Five I remember thinking: he? This is not in 5/4? It’s in 4/4!
But 5/4 is the whole point about Take five?! Doo-dat doo-dat doo-da….
I couldn’t get my head around it then, but know I get it. He wanted something original and truly Latin! The song grooves great like this and is a brilliant version also for dancing. Enjoy this classic Jazz standard by Paul Desmond, made famous by Dave Brubeck.
