This marvellous piece and amazing arrangement by Colombian arranger Francisco Zumaqué is one of my all-time favourite Eddie Palmieri tunes. The engaging coro “Oye mi canto” has been also used by Gloria Estefan in her world-hit “Oye mi canto” Nobody really knows if she was inspired the same way or just “borrowd” it from this Palmieri’s Paginas de mujer. But one thing s for sure: Palmieri was first to use it 😉
This arrangement is not the easiest to play and sing. The horns are playing in an extended register and Cheo’s soneos are unparalleled but if you are looking for a challenge or simply want to add a great masterpiece to you set, Paginas de Mujer is a must-have!
