Ismael “Maelo” Rivero was an extraordinary singer. He’s interpretations, timing and improvisations were remarkably hip, even today. There is no one like Maelo; an inspiration to many generations of salsa-singers. El Nazareno is one of his many “hits”, maybe the most popular one.
Every aspiring (salsa)-singers should know it by heart (and don’t feel ashamed to copy Maelo word by word; it’s the best way to learn great timing! 😉
