Description

An  Descarga-vibe tune that has all the signature “Palmieri” elements and is probably one of Eddie’s all-time greatest hits. This was originally recorded in the 1960s by Eddie’s first band “La perfecta”  but later re-recorded on his amazing album El sueño in 1989. I have to admit. I heard the second version first and only later discovered the La perfecta version. It is amazing to see how the song started out and how it was transformed later. Only that is already a school for arrangers. (Listen here to the original version.)

There are a couple of sheet music sites on the internet that offer this tune but no-one offers the El sueño version. I searched the internet quite a bit and it is always the La Perfecta version. Understandably so. (It is quite simpler)

So I decided to put it out there. 🙂 Also the piano part is the “real deal”. Nobody transcribed the actual notes Eddie is playing, which are – in my opinion -the real key to the true Palmieri sound. Nothing about his playing is “conventional”, although it might seem at first. Finally let’s not forget about his fantastic piano solo where he is playing the Guajeo with his left hand throughout the whole solo and improvises with the right hand. Unbelievable!

Enjoy this one!
