When in the 90s Victor Manuelle released this album (just called Victor Manuelle) it had a huge impact in that time. The way Sergio George managed to incorporate the “new sound” of cuban Timba into the the slightly “outdated” sound of Salsa romantica is simply amazing. At the time people criticized Sergio a lot for stealing from cuban bands, or not being really Timba , but the success actually proofed everybody wrong. Today this mix of styles is still going strong.
This tune features Victor Manuelle as a “rumbero”-singer. Great arrangement by Sergio. I recommend this chart for advanced players and singers, due to the heavy syncopation in cuban rumba.
