Description

Undoubtedly David Calzado’s fierce Charanga Habanera was Cuba’s most noticable weapon when it comes to the 2nd-Cuban-revolution; the Timba-revolution. The impact of their fresh and hip approach to Cuban music had repercussions all over the world. People shouted in despair: This is not salsa!  Other embraced the new sound from the island in a heartbeat. Fact is, it influenced a whole new generation of Latin music fans, musicians and dancers alike.
The albums “Me sube la fiebre” and “Pa’ que se entere la habana” were so huge that they make you almost forget that Charanga Habanera did actually start as a real charanga. And they recorded even an album, which shows you what an excellent violinist David really is.
But he has an even bigger talent: he can make coros and coro-mambos that makes you wish that it never stopped!

Gozando a lo cubano is one of those pieces: mega-swinging, great arrangement, and on top of all: a great message:

“Some say that it will all end, others that it’s already ending, but in the meantime, we will continue having a great time!”
(“Unos dicen que se va a acabar, otros que se está acabando, mientras el palo va y viene, nosotros seguimos gozando!”)

Brilliant! Now over to you 🙂
